 Community Gardening Project Middlesbrough Independence Network
In the spring of 2006 a project was undertaken with a group of young adults attending a drop in and counselling centre. The rear of the property had a small enclosed yard which the service users wanted to turn into a small garden. Through working with the group a small garden/ yard was designed and this design was implemented over a four day period. The garden was essentially superimposed over the pre existing yard with the best possible use made of the available soil. One or two individuals worked on the project from start to finish but more typically small groups came and went throughout the projects construction period. The project was funded by an application to the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund, Environmental Community Chest.
